Job Description

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with the Dean of the CHP for matters relating to monitoring and tracking processes and procedures.

  • Teaching in the classroom, clinical/campus laboratory clinical sites and clinical seminars;

  • Planning, implementing and evaluating nursing curriculum as a member of the nursing teaching team.

  • Coordinating with community health agencies utilized for clinical experiences and maintaining effective relations with them

  • Planning, supervising and evaluating learning experiences for students in the clinical area; scheduling conferences with individual students regarding progress;

  • Providing academic counseling and guidance to nursing students;

  • Holding at least six post office hours per week on at least four days;

  • Participating in all School of Nursing and nursing course team planning meeting and selected subcommittee within School of Nursing;

  • Participating actively in University, School and Community Service and Activities;

  • Maintaining own professional growth and remains current in nursing practice;

  • Assisting in preparation for nursing accreditation visits.

  • Day, evening and weekend classes and clinicals.

Required Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • Minimally a Master’s degree in Nursing required. Doctoral Degree in Nursing or a health-related field from an accredited institution preferred.


LICENSURE:
  • Unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Maryland (or eligibility to obtain licensure in Maryland).

Preferred Qualifications

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to independently handle multiple tasks and set priorities.

  • Possess strong oral/written communication, presentation, and interpretation skills.

  • Demonstrated clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing and currently at least one area of specialty in pediatric, maternal-child, critical care, and psychiatric/mental health or community clinical areas.

  • Recent classroom and clinical teaching experience in a college-level nursing program.

  • Ability to meet challenges of adult students with diverse background.
