Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:
Coppin State University, Freshman English Composition Program/ Department of Humanities is seeking experienced Adjunct Faculty to teach first-year writing for the Fall 2017 semester. Sections are open for English Composition I, an introductory modes of discourse-based writing course, and English Composition II, a course in research-based academic writing.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare adequately for class and devote appropriate time to web instruction-related activities.

  • Assess and evaluate student performance in alignment with the program’s assessment plan in a timely manner;

  • Conduct assigned classes for the scheduled length of time:

  • Supervision of students in school settings/and other educational settings;

  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and achievement for two semesters after the semester end unless requested for a longer period of time.

  • Submit final grades in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • Master’s degree in English, Communications, or related field.

EXPERIENCE:
  • Five years teaching at the college level.

  • Experience working with diverse and minority populations is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES :

  • General knowledge of business terminology, English, spelling and grammar.

  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple tasks and assignments.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

  • General knowledge of and skill in the use of word processing, database and spreadsheet software to produce documents and maintain information.

  • Ability to operate computers and other office equipment.
