Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:
Coppin State University School of Education invites applications for the position Assistant Professor within the Department of Instructional Leadership & Professional Development. The Department of Instructional Leadership & Professional Development is one of two departments housed in the School of Education. This is a full-time tenure-track position in which the faculty member is expected to teach MSDE approved graduate-level courses to professionals who seek Administrator I Certification, the Master of Education in Contemporary Leadership, and the Master of Science in Adult & Continuing Education. The faculty member will provide academic advisement to students, participate in school and departmental meetings and professional development activities. The faculty member must be knowledgeable of accreditation standards articulated by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC), The Maryland Instructional Leadership Framework (MILF), and other relevant associations.


PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as an instructor for graduate Administrator I Certification, the Master of Education in Contemporary Leadership, and the Master of Science in Adult & Continuing Education courses.

  • Advise students.

  • Assist in evaluation of students and program outcomes.

  • Contribute services to the major, area, college, and university as appropriate.

  • Provide leadership associated for program development and management.

Required Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • Doctoral degree in K-12 Administration or related field.

EXPERIENCE:
  • Ten years experience as a principal or school administrator in a LEA.

  • Ability to work with faculty and students to promote the success of all students.

  • Strong commitment to academic scholarship.

Preferred Qualifications

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

  • Participate in intra/inter-departmental faculty committees, scholarly works, and university service.

  • Documented successful university teaching experience.

  • Demonstrated collegial and collaborative skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to teach coursework in School Administration and Adult and Continuing Education.

  • Documented publication(s) in professional journals and professional presentation record, appropriate to rank.
